Rosa was named after my Nonna Rosina. She was called many things, including Ro by my Nonno. Nonna was a gentle lady with hands that could mesmerise me. Watching her making gnocchi, ironing clothes, plaiting hair, sewing and so much more. When Nonna finally immigrated to Australia she could not speak English. To my surprise, I could speak Italian to her. All those years of mum and dad speaking both Italian & English to me ingrained in my little brain, came to fruition with the Nonni and later as I travelled Italy.
